Mari Evans, of Maple Drive, is said to have knifed the man, who we have chosen not to name, on the head and body.
Prosecutors claim she then rained punches and kicks on his head and body, leaving him severely injury.
The alleged assault was so serious that Evans, 33, has been charged with assaulting the man to the danger of his life.
Evans, who denies carrying out the knife attack at a flat in Paisley’s Waverley Road in August 2011, has also been charged with missing a court date in connection with the case.
Prosecutors allege that, on April 10 last year, she failed to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court.
When the case against her called in the court this week, the trial was adjourned until next month.
