A STUDENT chef from Duntocher cooked up a storm at a prestigious show in Birmingham at the weekend.

Chloe Hart, 20, represented City of Glasgow College in the pâtisserie category at The Skills Show 2015 – a nationwide competition for apprentices.

Attended by more than 70,000 people, The Skills Show 2015 saw contests run for apprentices in a range of industries, from baking and engineering to construction and IT.

Currently in her second year of studying HND professional cookery, Chloe has spent months undertaking intensive training with City of Glasgow College’s Skills Academy preparing for the competition.

She told the Post: “I’ve really enjoyed training for The Skills Show as it’s helped me develop my own talents. I’ve had to work really hard and put a lot of hours into practising, but it’s definitely been worth it.

Competing in Birmingham was quite nerve-wracking as we were under a lot of pressure, but it was a great experience that will hopefully open some more doors for me.”

Due to her outstanding performance at the show, Chloe was selected for Squad UK.

The squad is made up of the UK’s most talented learners and apprentices, who will go on to compete against their peers in Europe, where they will battle for a place at WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017.

As a member of the squad, Chloe will spend the next year preparing for the global competition and will fit her training in around her work and study commitments.
