A JOHNSTONE councillor is hoping to reunite two escapee ferrets with their owner.
The pair were found by Cllr John Caldwell when he was walking his dogs at Windy Hill in the Elderlsie/Johnstone area.
He said: "I walk my dog every morning up Windy Hill and yesterday I found two ferrets.
"I took them home as I was worried a larger animal would attack them or they would get run over.
"They have been well fed and are easily handled. There is no sign that they have been mistreated.
"They are very tame and I have them safe in my garden. I had ferrets when I was a boy so I know how to look after them.
"I will keep them for a week to give people a chance to claim them. They are no bother to feed but I don't want to keep them."
Mr Caldwell said that he will hand the pets into a rescue centre if no one comes forward.
Anybody who has lost the ferrets can call 01505 321990.
