HUNGRY hounds can dine in style as a brand new dog menu has been launched at a Paisley cafe.

Bringing a whole new meaning to the term 'doggy bag' canines can catch up with their pooch pals over a bowl of wet dog food, dry biscuits and finish off with some treats.

Malatso Cafe on High Street has been open for nearly six years and has always prided itself on being a dog friendly eating spot.

The special pooch offerings have so far had a great response for pet owners and non pet owners alike since becoming available last month.

Owner Jennifer McKay, 37, has always felt that more venues should cater to pooches as it is more sociable for both owners and the pooches.

She said: "Anyone who has a dog will tell you that they hate leaving their dog in the house while they go for lunch or dinner and would love to take their four-legged friend with them.

"However it's so hard to find places that will accommodate dogs so it can be difficult to plan your day or night out.

"If more places would have them we can enjoy more time with them.

"I've had to turn down lunch invites as I may have been working and can't get home before the lunch date but also can't leave my dog in for that length of time.

"So if more places would advertise that they are dog friendly then we could plan more days out."

Jen's dog Bobo the Lhasa Apso, aged four and half is already a fan of the culinary delights served at the venue.

The menu includes a range of meaty dog food and dry variations coming in at £1 for a bowl.

A mix of treats also come in at 30 pence each which pooches can wash down with a bowl of free water.

And when Malatso Cafe adds seasonal treats for their customers in future they will also do so for the doggy menu, such as turkey during Christmas.

Malatso Cafe also offers a menu suitable for humans including coffees, burgers, sandwiches and vegetarian options throughout the day.

The other dogs that come to the venue are said to be extremely well behaved and Jen claims you wouldn't even know they were in.

She even joked that some pooches are better behaved than some of the customers.

"My dog will eat anything so he loves it but he also loves coming as he gets to meet another four-legged friends," said Jen.

"It's also a good way to get your dog used to behaving well in different environments."

If you and your pooch fancy a lunch date Malatso Cafe is based at 50 High Street in Paisley.
