A RECKLESS driver smashed a stolen car into a wall in Elderslie and currently is on the run.

The incident happened today (Thursday, August 18) at midday at a residential area of Main Road.

A witness reported a green Ford Focus coming from the Johnstone direction doing excessive speed.

It then suddenly aimed at the wall of a detached property and smashed into it causing severe damage to the car and wall.

No one appears to have been injured as a result of the crash. 

Police are currently searching for the man who is described as being in his late twenties to early thirties, with short hair, wearing a blue top and shorts. 

Inspector Cassie Glass said: "There was an incident that happened at midday on Main Road.

"The man responsible is described as in his late twenties to early thirties wearing a light blue top and shorts.

"He has made of and is yet to be traced however he was last seen running in the direction of Paisley.

"Anyone with further information is asked to contact us on 101."
