The flagship concert of this year's Hogmanay celebrations in Edinburgh will be performed by Paolo Nutini.

The Concert in the Gardens will be Nutini's only festival appearance in 2016.

The Scottish singer and songwriter, from Paisley, is the headline act of the seven open air stages which will be the soundtrack to the celebrations on December 31.

It is expected 75,000 revellers will attend the celebrations in the capital, and event that generates £40m for the city's economy.

The event begin on December 30 with the Torchlight Procession, which will include 30,000 participants, including 10,000 torchbearers.

It has not yet been decided whether the public can once again watch the final Hogmanay fireworks from Calton Hill.

The Waverley Stage will be headlined by The Charlatans while the Castle Stage will be led by bands including Salsa Celtica and Manran.

This year the Hogmanay events including Sprogmanay, three days of festival events for young children, including a family ceilidh, based around the National Museum of Scotland on Chambers Street.

Tickets go on general sale on September 30.
