A DOOR steward was assaulted by pub goers who were being kicked out of the venue.

The 29-year-old was assaulted on Saturday at 9.30pm and was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital to be treated.

The bouncer at Gabriels in Paisley's Gauze Street was ejecting the pair when he was punched in the face.

After he fell to the ground, the twosome continued to hit him on the face and head, causing him to bleed.

The second is said to be around 6 foot 2, with a stocky build, a grey jumper and with red hair.

Detective inspector Sandy Nelson, who is based at Paisley police station said: "The door steward was ejecting two rowdy individuals when he was punched in the face.

"They continued to attack him while he was on the ground.

"He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital but was released after having his cut glued back together.
