MEMBERS of the Linwood Community Development Trust (LCDT) will soon know if they have been successful with major funding bids to build a community village at Mossedge.
The proposed village includes a community hall and an all-weather football pitch with changing facilities.
LCDT has applied for a £1million grant from the Big Lottery Fund Scotland, as well as asking for an £800,000 contribution from the Scottish Government.
And members expect to be given an answer on both funding bids some time next month.
Members of LCDT are hopeful the £3million Mossedge village will become a reality, with the project being run “for the community, by the community.”
The plans also include a theatre and a community growing area.
Renfrewshire Council agreed to hand over the land at Mossedge to LCDT in April 2015, with efforts to secure the necessary funding continuing since then.
A spokeswoman for LCDT said: “If successful, Linwood would never have seen this £3million without the hard work of ordinary people and their dedication to our wee town over the past seven years.”
