Parts of Paisley may experience problems with their water supply this morning.

Scottish Water engineers have been working through the night to repair a burst to a 24-inch main in Brediland Road in Paisley.

Contingency arrangements have been made to tanker in additional supplies of water to minimise the impact of the burst on customers as far as possible.

However, while the repair is being carried out customers in the Corsebarr and Bredilands areas of Paisley may experience poor pressure, discoloured water and – in the case of properties in higher areas – a loss of supply this morning.

A Scottish Water spokesman said staff have been working intensively to restore water supplies.

He said: “Our squad have been on the scene since 11pm working to repair what is a complex burst on this major main.

“We apologise to customers affected by this unforeseen problem and wish to reassure them we have been doing everything possible to keep the disruption to a minimum.”
