POLICE are investigating two separate break-in attempts at sports facilities in Johnstone and Renfrew.

The first saw a gang of youths try to break into the McMaster Sports Centre in Johnstone.

The group of teenagers targeted the facility in Greenend Avenue on February 22 at 7.30pm.

After attempting to get access via a locked office window, they ran away without gaining entry.

Although unsuccessful, police are checking CCTV in the area in a bid to catch the youths.

Investigations are also being carried out after an attempted break in at Renfrew Golf Club.

The building alarm at Inchinnan Road was activated on Tuesday, February 28 at 3.30am.

Police and a sniffer dog searched the scene but could not find anyone inside.

Officers have still to confirm if anything was taken from the club.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
