A DOUBLE arson attack that took place in Renfrew over the weekend could have had "serious consequences" according to police.

The incidents, which are believed to be linked, happened on Saturday, March 11 between 7.30pm and 8pm.

First a wheelie bin at the Robertson Park pavilion was set alight which caused damage to the wood of the building.

Later, the contents of a skip on the grounds of Renfrew High school were set on fire.

Chief inspector Simon Wright said: “Had the fire at the Robertson Park pavilion not been put on quickly by fire services, this could have had very serious consequences.

“Enquiries are continuing and we ask that anyone with further information to call police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
