VOLUNTEERS at an Erskine-based farm project will be getting on their bikes and using pedal power to generate funds.

A sponsored cycle, which takes place next month, is just one of the money-spinning events being planned by the team at Lamont City Farm.

An open weekend will also be staged on Saturday, May 27, and Sunday, May 28, from 1pm to 4pm, as part of the fundraising drive.

And people can show their support by taking part in an online auction through the Lamont Farm Project Auction for the Animals Facebook page, which runs until March 25.

Bids can be made for a range of items, including books and clothes, with all proceeds being donated to the charity.

Lamont Farm has around 50 animals, ranging from donkeys to more exotic creatures such as snakes and tarantulas.

Founded in 1977, the farm attracts hundreds of visitors every weekend during the summer months.

Lamont Farm treasurer Yvonne Elliot said: “All profits raised from the open days will go towards paying for feed and bedding for the animals.

“We are looking for donations of raffle and tombola stall prizes and anyone willing to provide some home baking.

“Attractions will include pony rides, face painting and a bouncy castle.”
