RENFREWSHIRE MP Gavin Newlands has offered his support to police and emergency services amid a terrorist attack on Westminster.
The MP had left parliament at the time so did not get caught up in the incident.
He tweeted: "I'm safe having left the estate for meeting just before the incident. Thoughts with all police, WM staff & public affected. Thanks for msgs."
Mhairi Black MP has not yet commented on the incident.
A police officer was reportedly stabbed after earlier mowing down several pedestrians as he drove a car across Westminster Bridge.
He crashed into railings and ran into the Palace of Westminster, attacking the officerr before armed police shot him.
The Metropolitan Police said: "People are asked to avoid Parliament Square; Whitehall; Westminster Bridge; Lambeth Bridge; Victoria Street up to the junction with Broadway and the Victoria Embankment up to Embankment Tube.
"This is to allow the emergency services to deal with the ongoing incident.
"Officers - including firearms officers - remain on the scene and we are treating this as a terrorist incident until we know otherwise."
