THE newest member of Renfrewshire’s oldest arts and craft group picked up the top prize at the Bishopton Arts and Crafts Fair.

Hanna Kacinie’s painting, Poppies, was voted the exhibition’s favourite by members and the public at the Bishopton Arts and Craft Fayre.

The biannual event has been held for more than 30 years and last week’s fayre attracted the usual large crowd.

As well as the usual diverse range of arts and crafts, there was also a delicious selection of cakes and other goodies.

Group member Linda Mitchell said: “There is a lot of artistic talent in the area and we were delighted that a large number of paintings were sold at the fayre. We are always looking for new members and were especially delighted that Hanna’s painting was voted this year’s favourite as she is our newest member.”

Claire Little, from Dargavel Village, won a Braehead shopping voucher after her name was pulled from the hat of people who voted in the favourite painting competition.

The club’s next big craft fayre is in November, and there will be a month-long exhibition at The Bridge in Bridge of Weir from mid-June-July.
