A DRIVER had to be cut free from a car after crashing into a wall near a cemetery.

The incident happened at Arkleston Road in Paisley on Tuesday at around 5pm.

Police shut the road near the Arkleston Cemetery as firefighters used specialist cutting gear to remove the woman from her vehicle.

Paramedics treated her at the scene but the extent of her injuries is still unclear.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "On Tuesday at 5.05pm we were alerted to reports of a car colliding with a wall on Arkleston Road.

"Four appliances were mobilised and firefighters extricated one casualty from the vehicle before handing them into the care of paramedics.

"Crews left the scene once the area was made safe."
