EXCITED youngsters are looking forward to taking centre stage at Kilbarchan’s Lilias Day celebrations.

Preparations for the annual event are well under way, with this year’s Miss Lilias and School Queen now chosen.

Cara Batin (pictured above) has been handed the honour of serving as Miss Lilias, based on her contribution to the community.

As part of her duties, she will read a proclamation to officially open the festival.

Every year, senior pupils at Kilbarchan Primary also elect a School Queen and attendants.

This year’s School Queen is Emma Moore and her attendants are Zoe Ryszewski and Cara Lauder.

The crown bearer will be Pierre Minucci, supported by his ‘footman’ Jason Kirkwood.

Graeme Stockton, chair of the Lilias Day Committee, said: “We are delighted to have the support of Kilbarchan and the wider community.

“Each year, the event raises tens of thousands of pounds for charities and this wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of all those who come along and enjoy the day.”

Lilias Day takes place on Saturday, June 3, with a parade of colourful floats setting off at 1pm to make its way to Kilbarchan Park, where families can enjoy a host of activities.
