IT was a case of “no likey, no lighty” for Lochwinnoch lad Jonny Lowrie on ITV dating show Take Me Out on Saturday night.

The 26-year-old hunk thought he was on to a winner when he bagged a date with blonde netball beauty Charley Frain.

But his hopes of making a splash on the pair’s first date to a water park ended up more of a damp squib when his would-be beau fell ill.

Jonny said: “It was a bit of a shame for her as she had a chest infection which delayed our date quite a bit.

“But she was a trooper and still managed to meet me.

“Going to a water park for our first date was quite unusual though – I don’t think I’d do it again.

“I preferred the second half of the date where we got to sit down and speak properly as she was a lovely girl.”

The popular Saturday night prime time entertainment show sees 30 single women looking for romance – and a selection of men coming down a ‘love lift’ in an attempt to impress them.

And singleton Jonny was in luck after catching the attention of one of the flirty thirty

However, despite Charley trying to impress her date with her ‘tongue yoga’ and putting on a slightly questionable Scottish accent, it was not meant to be.

But even though he didn’t find romance with Charley, Jonny has managed to come out of the show with plenty of bromance instead.

He told the Gazette: “As there were a few other couples from the same week travelling with us, we all bonded really well, especially the guys.

“Everyone had their own interesting characters and we all got to share the same experience together.

“It has been a bit of a bizarre few days but I’m quite happy with how I was reflected on the show.”

Jonny added that it was good to meet Charley and the pair still message from time to time but doesn’t believe anything romantic will ever come from it.

He added: “On Take Me Out Gossip, the host Mark Wright gave me a bit of grief for not pursuing her but I didn’t think there would be much point if she wasn’t interested.

“I’m still single but not in a rush to meet anyone – but who knows what will happen in the future.”
