A TALENTED singer-songwriter who is drawing comparisons with legends such as Amy Winehouse and Ella Fitzgerald is targeting the top.
Katie Doyle, who goes by the stage name of Kitty, has been taken aback by the rave reviews she’s received following the release of her debut single Old Ones.
However, the jazz and soul songstress insists the positive comments will inspire her to strive for greater success.
Reflecting on how it feels to have brought out her first hit, accompanied by its own video, 20-year-old Katie said: “It’s great, I’m just relieved.
“We started on it in November last year. It was a lot of hard work, so it was just nice to have it out there.
“I’m totally obsessed with the Sixties. Jazz and soul are my forte and I love Ella Fitzgerald.
“I’m going to bring out an EP and the next single will probably be out in November.”
Katie, who was born in Paisley and has lived in Barrhead for the past 10 years, began honing her craft in the pubs and bars of Glasgow in her early teens.
The chance to film her first music video in the city’s Priory Bar, also her place of work, allowed her to make sure it turned out exactly the way she had always imagined.
Katie, a former pupil at St Andrew’s Academy, in Paisley, and St Luke’s High, in Barrhead, said the release of Old Ones has opened her to the possibilities which lie ahead.
She said: “I’ve got a lot lined up. I’ve got some exciting things happening just now, so hopefully you’ll see a lot more of me soon.”
