CHILDREN at a Johnstone school have been given a taste of what to expect when they enter the world of work.

A week of events took place at St David’s Primary, with parents paying a visit to talk about their current and previous jobs.

Pupils also had the opportunity to become headteacher for a day.

Two children from each class gave a talk to the rest of the school about their dream job, with primary six pupil Zara Black declared the winner.

Laura Sayers, who teaches the P4/5 class, said: “Pupils agreed that the highlight of the week was the arrival of the local police and fire departments.

“The children enjoyed learning about what is involved in these very important jobs and how they help people in the community.

“Some of the children got to try on uniforms, while some even got locked up in the police van.”

The fun also included a ‘dress for work’ day, where the children came to school wearing the uniform of the job they would like to do when they are older.

Miss Sayers added: “The week was a great success and we offer many thanks to everyone involved.”
