THE sun was shining as hundreds of villagers gathered together for the annual Howwood fete.

Revellers of all ages went along to the event at Howwood Primary School, where there was entertainment for the whole family.

Splash Productions provided music, while other attractions included rival pub teams taking part in a tug-of-war challenge, won by staff at the Boarding House.

And there were plenty of refreshing drinks, hot dogs, home baking and other treats to keep guests fuelled throughout the day.

A bouncy castle, tombola and stalls selling everything from bottles to crafts also kept everyone busy.

The event was organised by Howwood residents Lorna Poole and Sarah Galloway, with lots of support from community groups in the village.

Bill David, secretary of Howwood Community Council, said: “I have been attending the fete for many years and this year was better than ever.

“There were around 15 stalls and various groups participating, which contributed to its success.

“Renfrewshire Leisure were on hand to provide games for kids, including favourites like beat-the-goalie.

“Youngsters were all represented, with the Guides, Scouts and Howwood Youth Club all in attendance.”

A DJ and dance routines also helped to keep the crowds entertained.

Bill added: “The fete is hosted on the same Saturday every June and the weather was brilliant this time round.

“It is a fun, family day and everyone had a great time.”
