FAMILIES had a blooming lovely time at the Garden of Dreams open day.

The event was organised by the Renfrew Association of Growers and Gardeners (RAGG), which launched the community garden in the Broadloan area of town three years ago.

A wide range of people from the local community are able to use the garden, where they can learn about growing and harvesting their own fruit and vegetables.

Those who aren’t blessed with green fingers can just go along to relax and enjoy the view.

The annual open day gives people the chance to find out more about what’s on offer.

Gillian Grieveson, garden secretary, said: “As well as making sure keen gardeners were happy, there was also fun for little ones who came along.

“There was a barbecue, home-baking and refreshments, plus a raffle and a bric-a-brac stall.

“Plants were up for sale and the face painting by the garden volunteers also proved to be popular with the kids.

“Some of the non-members set up stalls and there were special prices available for plants and gardening items.

“The wooden garden ornaments also proved to be popular and there were toys for the kids.”

Anyone who would like to join the group or find out how they can benefit from the community garden is welcome to go along on a Wednesday or Saturday, anytime between 10am and 4pm.

Gillian added: “If you want to meet new people, learn some new skills and help make the best of the community garden, please get in touch.”
