An alleged masked armed robber is due to go on trial later this month.

Devlin Mitchell is said to have held up The Family Shopper, in Paisley, with an axe while his face was “partially concealed.”

Prosecutors claim he robbed the town’s Causeyside Street store on October 16, 2016, and made off with a sum of cash.

The 23-year-old faces an assault and robbery charge which states that he “did whilst acting with another assault Connor Cassidy, Sinita Ouije and Iqbal Raj, all employees there.”

The single charge against him also states that he did with his “face partially concealed, present an axe or similar instrument at them, strike a counter top there with said axe, demand money from them and did rob them of a sum of money.”

Mitchell, of Durrockstock Road, in Paisley’s Foxbar area, maintains his innocence and is due in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court this week for a pre-trial hearing, ahead of a trial which is scheduled to take place later this month.
