A JOHNSTONE man is facing trial accused of arming himself with a knife and trying to kick his way into a flat.

Dale Fallon, 39, is said to have caused a rammy in Hillview Road, Elderslie, on April 17 last year.

Prosecutors claim he repeatedly demanded money, shouted, swore, repeatedly kicked the front door of a flat and tried to force entry.

Court papers claim he was in breach of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010 by his behaviour, which is said to have been threatening or abusive and likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm.

He is also accused of being armed with a knife, in breach of the Criminal Law (Consolidation) (Scotland) Act 1995, on the same occasion by having the bladed weapon on him without a reasonable excuse or lawful permission.

Fallon, of Sycamore Avenue, Johnstone, faces a third charge of failing to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on January 12 this year, in breach of the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1995.

He pleaded not guilty to all three charges at a pre-trial hearing at Paisley Sheriff Court, where he was represented by defence solicitor David Nicholson.

Sheriff Linda Smith adjourned the case for a trial to take place.
