THERE was a tot takeover at Johnstone Library as little bookworms got involved in the town’s most recent Bookbug session.
Bookbug offers youngsters the chance to explore the magical world of reading, whilst also aiding child development.
There is also a focus on families coming together to have fun and spend time learning and playing together.
As well as reading with their children, mums and dads are encouraged to join in with some singing and dancing.
Jane Struthers, who is the library supervisor, told the Gazette: “Over the weekend, there were 13 adults and 13 children, aged from birth to four years old, who got involved.
“This is a smaller group than we get during the week, so it’s quite a close group.
“We do our usual routine, which involves a mixture of songs with movements, songs with rhymes and calming songs, as well as reading our story.
“Anyone who would like to get involved in a future session is welcome to drop in.”
Johnstone Library runs Bookbug sessions every Wednesday at various times throughout the day.
There are also gatherings every Saturday, from 2.30pm until 3pm.
