A FORMER takeaway delivery driver was today convicted of raping an 11-year-old girl almost two decades ago.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that Paul Colquhoun, 49, of Wellmeadow Street, Paisley, plied the primary school pupil with alcohol and, when she was drunk, removed her clothing and raped her.

The offence took place at a house in Clydebank on one occasion between December 1999 and December 2000.

Vile Colquhoun also attempted to rape the young girl on various occasions at a house in Clydebank and one in Lochwinnoch.

In court, the girl told how Colquhoun bought her a zipper jacket and would drive her about in the car while he was delivering takeaway meals.

He was also convicted of raping two sleeping women.

Colquhoun raped one woman while she was asleep at a house in Clydebank on one occasion between October 1994 and October 1996.

When the woman woke up and told him to stop, Colquhoun just ignored her.

The other rape took place at a flat in Glasgow on one occasion between May and August 2006.

Colquhoun was also found guilty of sexually abusing two teenage girls and showing them pornographic images at a house in Clydebank between 1994 and 1999.

These girls also said that Colquhoun would drive them about in his delivery car from the Clydebank takeaway.

Colquhoun had denied all the charges against him and claimed all the witnesses were lying.

Advocate depute Gillian Ross said: “The accused has no previous convictions.”

Sentence on Colquhoun, a first offender, was deferred until August 22 at the High Court in Edinburgh.

Judge John Morris QC placed Colquhoun on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

Defence counsel Edward Targowski QC will give his plea in mitigation then.
