ANIMAL lovers at a Linwood pet shop have collected hundreds of pounds for abused, abandoned and injured furry friends.

Staff and customers at Pets At Home raised £505 for the Scottish SPCA.

Anna O’Donnell, manager at the charity’s animal rescue and rehoming centre in Cardonald, said: “This type of fundraising takes a lot of organising and effort and we fully appreciate all the help given by the public and our own volunteers towards making these collections a success.

“Without these donations, we would not be able to continue our vital work rescuing and rehoming abandoned and unwanted animals in Scotland.”

Linwood Pets at Home has also recently added Langbank-based Royalheart Greyhound Rescue to its “buddy” scheme, so the charity will share in any donations the shop receives through future fundraising.

Lesley Roberts, Royalheart’s lead fundraiser, told The Gazette: “Customers love to meet the dogs and its the perfect way for dogs to find their new families and it’s great for the shop staff to be working with customers and rescues.

“We will be bringing the dogs to the shop very soon to meet the staff and their customers.”
