SHOPPERS at the Iceland store in Johnstone town centre have given a warm response to efforts by staff to raise cash for a worthy cause.

The fundraising team have been dressing up as everything from loveable movie character Shrek to a life-sized carrot to encourage customers to support Alzheimers Scotland.

As well as urging people to pop a donation in their collection bucket, the staff have also organised a prize raffle, with a barbecue pack worth £30 among the goodies that are up for grabs.

Raffle tickets, priced at £1, will remain on sale at the store, in Houstoun Square, until this Friday.

Candice McGowan, store manager, has praised all those who have been involved in the fundraising drive.

She said: “Every year, Iceland picks a dedicated charity to fundraise for in August, which all of our stores across the UK raise cash for.

“As well as the collection, we are having a dress-down day, a tombola and the summer raffle.

“Our store’s target for this year’s fundraising drive is £1,500 and we have so far managed to raise £1,040, so we are not too far off.

“Come into the shop if you’d like to get involved in the raffle or make a donation.”
