HUNDREDS of people turned out to gorge on burgers and hotdogs as the Renfrew Community Fellowship hosted its annual BBQ fun day.

It was a chance for youngsters to make the most of their final days off school before returning to the classroom this week, as well as finding out about the church.

And attendance went way beyond expectations as more than 200 people showed up.

Pastor Dorothy Barr said the event was very successful and she hopes more people will join the church as a result.

She added: “We had an absolute blast and so many more people turned out than we expected.

“It’s something we do every year so the kids can have a bit of fun before they go back to school and everyone seemed to have a great time.

“It was a chance for more people to find out about what we do as a church as well and I’m positive we’ll have more people coming along.

“It’s a community outreach event, so everything was on offer for free.”

Kids were able to enjoy a bouncy castle and face painting, with tasty food served up throughout the day.

The High Street church holds a Sunday service at 10.30am, a prayer meeting on Tuesdays at 7.30pm and a mums and tots group on Thursday mornings.

And on Friday, August 25, there will be a Ladies in Fellowship Together event from 7pm to 9.30pm, which will involve an evening of prayer and worship.
