AN investigation has been launched after a man was stabbed in Paisley.

The 45-year-old was assaulted in Causeyside Street near the Wellington Bar yesterday just after 4.30pm.

He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital where is being treated for stab wounds.

Hospital staff said he is in a stable condition.

Police are on the lookout for three men in connection with the incident.

The first man, who is about 30-years-old, is white, about 6ft 4in tall with a heavy muscular build and was wearing a white t-shirt and grey tracksuit.

The second man, who also looked about 30, is white and of a similar height but skinny with short dark hair. 

The third man is white, with a heavy build and short hair which was greying at the top.

Detective Sergeant Nathan Calderwood at Paisley CID said: “We are currently viewing CCTV and speaking to local people in the area to help establish what exactly occurred yesterday afternoon.

“Causeyside Street would have been busy at this time with both pedestrians and car users and I urge anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information that could assist our enquiries to contact CID at Paisley immediately."
