ELEVEN new trade apprentices have started their careers with a Paisley construction, refurbishment and maintenance contractor.

Following on from the careers evenings Clark Contracts held in Paisley in March and April, 204 applications were received.

As a result, 72 candidates were invited to attend an assessment day to take part in testing with the 35 highest scoring individuals asked to return for final stage interviews.

The 11 successful apprentices are spending four weeks working in various departments within Clark Contracts’ offices in Paisley and Edinburgh before beginning work on site and commencing their studies at either West College Scotland, Glasgow Clyde College or Edinburgh College.

The eight joinery, one bricklaying and two painting and decorating apprentices will join the contractor’s award winning Academy which already features 23 trade apprentices and over 30 others across the business who are studying towards formal qualifications.

Clark Contracts employs more than 250 people.
