POLICE are investigating the theft of jewellery from a house in Renfrew’s Mill Vennel between 11am and 2.15pm on Monday, August 21.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.

Fire attack on golf club

YOUTHS attacked a golf club in Johnstone last week.

A bench and a bin were set alight at Cochrane Castle Golf Club in Scott Avenue on Monday, August 21, at around 11.30pm.

The culprits were spotted running away from the premises, police said.

'Unprovoked attack'

AN alleged unprovoked attack on three men took place in Paisley over the weekend.

The group were packing their car at Glencoats Drive on Saturday, August 26 at 4.12am when they were approached by three men.

It has been claimed that the alleged attackers started laying into them for making noise.

One of the victims has come away with a broken finger and the other was hit on the head.

A man has been charged with serious assault and remanded in custody.

Police say they have a positive line of enquiry for the other two men.

Fire raising 

A NUMBER of fire raising incidents took place over the weekend across Paisley.

Each of the three incidents happened on Sunday, August 27 at various times.

The first saw the bins at the B&M at the Phoenix Shopping Centre set on fire at 2.52am.

A stolen car was found in flames at Blythswood Drive at 3.28am.

On the same street, burning bins had to be extinguished at 4.30am.  Police are unsure whether these incidents are linked.

Pair arrested 

TWO men were arrested for alleged hate crimes over the weekend.

At around 1am on Saturday a 51-year-old man was charged with a breach of the peace after allegedly being thrown out of a pub in Johnstone High Street and shouting homophobic names at a bartender.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident at Soar in Braehead on Sunday, a 42-year-old from Renfrew was arrested after allegedly shouting homophobic abuse at a security guard before punching him.

Drink drive

A MAN was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving at the weekend in Renfrew.

The 42-year-old was stopped by police in Hairst Street at around 1.30am on Sunday for alleged drink-driving and road traffic offences. 

Attempted murder charge

A 71-YEAR-OLD taxi driver has been charged with attempted murder.

Police said the driver allegedly mounted a pavement and clipped a 15-year-old boy’s leg following an alleged altercation between the two on August 26 at 12.56am at County Square in Paisley.

The teenager did not suffer any serious injuries.

Tools worth £8,500 stolen THIEVES stole a van containing expensive tools in Johnstone.

The vehicle was snatched from Spateston Road between 1.30am and 9.30am on Saturday.

The tools and van combined are thought to be have been worth around £8,500.
