PARA-ATHLETE Scott Meenagh visited Erskine to spend time with the charity’s veterans ahead of the Invictus Games.

Scott was serving with the Army in Afghanistan in 2011 when he stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device.

He lost both of his legs in the blast but has since shown remarkable determination to pursue sporting glory.

And, later this week, Scott will fly to Canada to compete in an international Paralympic-style multi-sport event.

Once the Invictus Games kick off on Saturday, he will be competing in the 100m, 200m and 1,500m races, as well as rowing events.

A spokesperson for Erskine said: “Our residents were thrilled to welcome Scott to their homes and wish him all the very best at the Games.”

Meanwhile, Erskine has secured a major sponsor for its annual military ball.

Scotland’s largest independent retailing and distribution company, CJ Lang & Son, has agreed to be the food and drink sponsors of the Erskine Military Ball, which takes place at the Hilton Hotel, in Glasgow, on Friday, October 6.

The company, which is the parent firm of Spar, is supporting the event alongside headline sponsor The Highland Club and ticket sponsor Thomas Tunnock Ltd.

Tickets for the ball can be booked by calling Jennifer Campbell on 0141 814 4729.
