Police are investigating the theft of a number of cars in Renfrewshire.

In one incident, which took place on Friday morning, three vehicles were stolen from an address in Bishopton.

Police said two Mercedes – one black and one silver – and a black Vauxhall Corsa were pinched from Mar Avenue just before 3am.

It’s believed the thieves put a hook device through a letterbox to steal the keys for each of the cars.

Police are also appealing for witnesses after a Y-reg Mitsubishi Shogun was taken from Haining Drive, in Renfrew, some time on Thursday night or Friday morning.

In a separate incident, a man was arrested in Renfrew after he was spotted driving a car which had been reported as stolen.

The 26-year-old man was detained in police custody in connection with the alleged theft of a Kia Sportage which was seen in the town’s Nevis Road after being driven away from Armadale, in West Lothian, over the weekend.

He was due to appear in court yesterday and police enquiries are ongoing.

Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who has information about the theft of a car and a four-figure sum of cash from a garage in Inchinnan.

Thieves broke into Chalk Autos/MC Motors during the evening of Wednesday, September 20, and stole a Ford Focus.

The car was later recovered by police in Bell Street, Renfrew.
