A PAISLEY band that is aiming for music stardom has been given a cash boost to help them on their way.

SWAY have received Nurturing Talent Funding to take their music further and increase their growing fan base.

Band members Craig Milroy, Matt Aitchison, Jon Joe McGirr and David Roberts – all aged 17 to 20 – will use the funding to film a music video for their next single, To be a Man.

SWAY have already supported well-established bands such as The View and are keen to build on their success.

A spokesperson for the band said: “It really means a lot to us, both as individuals and as a group, to receive this funding.

“We have worked really hard over the last year and the funding will allow us to create a music video that will give us the opportunity to progress as a group.”

The Nurturing Talent Fund is managed by the National Youth Arts Advisory Group for Scotland.

It is working with Creative Scotland and Young Scot to issue £40,000 to talented young people over two years.

Young people with a creative passion can apply for grants of between £60 to £600.

The deadline for the next round of funding is October 9.
