The event, organised by Ardencaple FC and sponsored by the Co-operative, took place on Friday night under the floodlights at Hermitage Academy, and there was an abundance of skill on display as six teams competed to lift the Active Schools Cup and the Plate for runners-up.

Teams representing Cardross, Colgrain, Hermitage, Rhu, Rosneath and St Joseph’s played against one another in a tightly contested round-robin stage.

It was Hermitage and Cardross who came out on top to qualify for the final, and St Joseph’s just narrowly missed out.

“In particular to Martin Caldwell from Active Schools, to Andy Black and Caple’s Committee for all their hard work in organising the event, to the referees, Brian Cameron, Robert Holland and Euan Birss, and to local photographer Simon Williams for his continued support.

“And also to Russell Stilwell and his team from the Co-op for sponsoring this year’s event – not not only making a very generous financial donation towards the tournament, but also for braving the elements on the night to provide players and spectators with goodie-bags containing fruit and bottled water.”

“The tournament highlights the strong partnership operating between Active Schools and Ardencaple FC and serves to promote pathways from schools to community club sport.”
