CARING fundraisers got together for a cuppa as part of a nationwide event for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Dozens turned out for the coffee morning at Ralston Community Centre, in Paisley, to show support for the worthy cause.

And the event raised more than £600, with money still being collected.

People from all over the UK get together to host an event every year for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, which generated almost £30million last year.

The Ralston event was organised by a mother-and-baby group which meets at the centre every Monday morning.

Meena Patel, one of the organisers, said: “It went really well and was very busy.

“We had lots of lovely home baking on offer and face-painting for the kids to keep them occupied while parents enjoyed some tea and coffee.

“I’d also like to thank the playgroup at the centre for lending us some toys for the kids.

“It was a really good atmosphere and an opportunity for us all to socialise.

“We are a mum-and-baby group from Ralston and we just thought it would be nice to get together and raise money for a great cause.”

Ralston Community Centre was one of many places across Paisley that held a coffee morning at the weekend, with Skirlies, Woodlands Coffee House and the University of the West of Scotland also hosting fundraisers.

Since it was launched in 1990, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning has raised more than £165million.

Any mums who are interested in joining the Ralston group can go along to the community centre between 9.30am and 11.30am on Mondays.
