AC Caple 2004s celebrated their first official league game with a 3-1 victory over Harmony Row at Hermitage Academy last weekend.
The game started well for the Ardencaple FC side and they were dominating play, particularly down the right-hand side where Lennox was proving a handful for the Harmony Row defenders.
It wasn’t long before Caple scored after a strong run from Lennox into the Harmony Row penalty area.
Instead of shooting he played a simple pass to Walker who stroked the ball into the net.
This sparked Harmony Row into life as they pressed forward and forced a series of corners.
Caple weathered the storm as Harmony Row brought out a couple of fine saves from Ben Smith in the home goal.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Graham in particular causing problems for the Harmony Row defence.
A second goal came for Caple in the form of a well worked move and a finish at the back post from Haughie.
Again, Harmony Row pressed forward but couldn’t find the net, thwarted by C Smith, Speirs, Grant and Beaton in the defence.
Harmony Row forced a superb save from Smith from a well taken free kick on the edge of the box.
Caple then scored a slightly fortuitous goal when Walker’s long-range shot went through everyone, catching the Harmony Row keeper out as it went into the net.
Harmony Row continued to push forward and were rewarded with a penalty late in the game, which Smith got a hand to but couldn’t keep out.
The team was delighted to welcome their match ball sponsor Michael Ross, of MR Roofing and Plastering Clydebank, to the game.
