FAMILIES are being encouraged to follow some simple tips to ensure their Christmas dinner doesn’t result in anyone getting food poisoning.
The warning comes from Dr Linda de Caestecker, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Director of Public Health, who is keen to make sure the big day is fun for everyone – including those tasked with cooking the traditional turkey.
She said: “What we want to reiterate is that, by making sure food is thoroughly defrosted and cooked the necessary time, everyone stays healthy and happy. People should also follow good hand hygiene practice by thoroughly washing their hands before preparing food, after touching raw meat and before eating.”
