A WOMAN was hit by a train yesterday between Paisley Gilmour Street and Johnstone.
British Transport Police were called to Gilmour Street station at around 4.20pm after a woman in her 50s was struck on the line.
She was uninjured but was taken to hospital to be assessed.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: "We were called to Paisley Gilmour Street station at 4.22pm yesterday and a woman was taken to hospital after being hit by a train.
"We believe she is still in hospital at the moment.
"She was not injured."
Services between Glasgow Central and Ardrossan Harbour, Ayr and Largs were disrupted last night following the incident.
A ScotRail Alliance spokesperson: “We apologise to customers who were delayed as a result of this incident, and understand their frustration.
“Any customer delayed by 30 minutes or more can claim compensation by visiting scotrail.co.uk.”
