A FIXED camera on a busy Johnstone road has led to a dramatic drop in speeding, The Gazette can reveal.
Latest figures show that, since the safety measure was introduced on Beith Road last September, the number of vehicles breaking the speed limit has been slashed from 73 per cent to 11 per cent.
Councillor Andy Steel, who represents Johnstone South and Elderslie, said: “It’s disappointing to see that 11 per cent of drivers are still risking causing an accident or getting a fine by travelling too fast but this is an excellent start.”
