A YOUNG man is facing trial accused of being armed with a knife and drugs which he planned to deal to others on the day he stole a bike.
Mason MacKenzie is accused of stealing a bicycle from Hairst Street, Renfrew, on January 15 this year.
The 20-year-old is also said to have been in possession of a knife in the town’s Mitchell Avenue on the same day.
MacKenzie faces a further allegation that he was caught with Etizolam – a former legal high which is often sold as Valium – with intent to supply it to another or others in that street that day.
He pleaded not guilty to the three charges against him last week when he appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court for a pre-trial hearing.
Sheriff Tom McCartney continued the case until this week for a further pre-trial hearing to take place.
