He said: “Henley eat your heart out, this was a fantastic event of national proportions on a beautiful sunny day at the Lochwinnoch Riviera.

“It was a real pleasure to support the event and present the medals.”
Also amongst the crowd were Renfrewshire South MSP Tom Arthur and Paisley and Renfrewshire North MP Gavin Newlands.

A Castle Semple Rowing Club spokesperson said: “What a fantastic day.

“Thanks to all the clubs who took part and thanks to the umpires for volunteering.

“We’d also like to thank our guests that came along and gave us invaluable advice about how to grow the club in future.

“Finally, thanks to our club members. We could not have done it without you.”
