A RENFREW man has been banned from the town’s Robertson Park amid claims he sexually assaulted a teenage girl there and tried to convince a primary school pupil to come back to his house.

Carlo Nani is said to have sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl, who can’t be named for legal reasons, in the park earlier this month.

Nani, 41, denies groping the girl against her will on Saturday, May 12.
Prosecutors claim he placed his arms around her body, hugged her, placed his hands on her clothed hips, back and buttocks and moved his hands over her hips, back and buttocks, in breach of Section 3 of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009.

Nani, of Paisley Road, Renfrew, faces a second charge of committing a breach of the peace by conducting himself in a disorderly way and inviting a 10-year-old girl, who also can’t be named for legal reasons, to go to his home with him.

He was arrested over the claims and held in police custody before appearing in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court to face the two charges against him.

Sheriff Colin Pettigrew released him on bail with the special condition that he is not allowed to approach or enter Robertson Park.

A trial has been set for August, with a pre-trial hearing due to take place in July.

Nani maintains his innocence.
