A RENFREW man is proving that it is never too late to start again as he shows off his photography talents in his first solo exhibition.

Paul Little, 37, left his job as a warehouse worker after 13 years and returned to full-time education, where he discovered his passion and never looked back.

Four years ago, the former Trinity High School pupil attended a night class at the City of Glasgow College – and it soon became apparent that his talents lay behind the camera.

The BA student said: “One hundred per cent it has changed me. I wouldn’t be here, about to embark on my first solo exhibition, without the college and the lecturers.

“Their passion and enthusiasm has been inspirational.”

Now, on top of entering his honours year at the college, Paul is also showcasing his talents this week at Glasgow’s Veneer Art Gallery.

His show – entitled Cloud Island, which is the Nordic or Viking name for the Isle of Skye – shows off his passion for landscapes and, in particular, the islands of the Hebrides, with which he fell in love on his first visit three years ago.

He continued: “I’ve been back three times since. The sense of isolation intrigues me.

“I am envious of the landscape and its beauty but, within that, there is a struggle because of the remote location.

“I’m excited and nervous about the exhibition, apprehensive about what people will think of my work and anxious about negative reaction from the landscape community.”

Paul is looking to be recognised as a professional landscape photographer following the exhibition – and to possibly bag a few sales as a result.

He is also hoping to inspire others to take up the course full-time by helping out at the night classes he first attended.

“My ultimate goal is to go full circle and become a lecturer here at City of Glasgow College,” he added.

“But first I need to get real world experience.

“The rest of my life is photography.”

Paul’s exhibition at the Veneer Gallery, 1184 Argyle Street, Glasgow, runs until Sunday, May 27.
