POLICE are appealing for help to catch a suspicious man who lunged out of a wooded area at a dog walker in Linwood this morning.

The incident happened at around 7am when a 57-year-old was walking her dog in a wooded area by the On-X Sports Centre.

A man in his early 20s jumped out at the woman, but no crime was established.

It comes just weeks after a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in the same area at around 9.45pm on Saturday, April 21.

There was also another 50-year-old dog walker targeted earlier this month in the same spot.

The suspect jumped out from the bushes before fleeing towards Moss Road on Wednesday, May 9, at around 10am.

The incident this morning was reported to the police more than three hours later and officers are now urging people to call them immediately if they spot this man.

He has been described as being in his early 20s, about 5ft 8in, with dark, bushy hair.

Police say he was wearing a bottle green hoodie with gold writing on it and blue jeans.

Inspector Cassie Glass, who is based at Johnstone Police Station, said: "The victim did not report the incident until 10.40am. We really need to know about these things straight away.

"I'm convinced someone knows who this is and it is vital we catch him before anything more sinister happens."

Call 101 with any information.
