Families held court at a Johnstone school as they celebrated the royal wedding by taking part in a fun day.

More than 100 people enjoyed the festivities at St Anthony’s Primary, which took place at the same time as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were tying the knot.

Organised by the school’s Parent Council, big screens were in place so that guests could watch the action from Windsor.

And there were plenty of other activities to keep people entertained throughout the day, with members of the emergency services coming along to offer their support.

There was also a visit from some furry friends, courtesy of Pets at Home.

Melissa McGrogan, head of the Parent Council, said: “We wanted to raise funds for some playground equipment for the school and the date we had picked for the fun day ended up being the same as the royal wedding, so we just put two and two together.

“We are so grateful to everyone in the community who contributed to the stalls and activities.

“We raised an amazing £1,300, which would not have been possible without them.”
