A JOHNSTONE man has been locked up by a sheriff... for going to the dentist.

David Anderson was remanded in custody after he admitted going to Johnstone Dental Practice, Laighcartside Street, last Thursday.

In doing so, Anderson, 41, breached a special bail condition banning him from approaching or contacting Anne Twynholm.

The condition was imposed when he was released on bail from Kilmarnock Sheriff Court over a separate case last month.

Anderson, of High Street, Johnstone, was arrested and held in police custody over the bail breach and admitted his guilt when he appeared in the dock at Paisley Sheriff Court.

The charge he pleaded guilty to stated the offence was “aggravated by involving abuse” of his partner or ex-partner, as per Section 1 of the Abusive Behaviour and Sexual Harm (Scotland) Act 2016.

Sheriff Frances McCartney remanded him in custody for background reports and adjourned the case until next month.
