Members of Beavers and Cubs groups in Renfrewshire pulled on their walking boots to raise nearly £800 for a worthy cause.

Volunteers from Howwood Beavers and Cubs joined forces with colleagues at the Fordbank Cubs to take part in the Step Up Challenge for St Vincent’s Hospice.

This involved completing a sponsored walk at Castle Semple, in Lochwinnoch, with family and friends asked to make a donation.

The money raised will help the Howwood-based hospice provide palliative care, as well as bereavement and counselling services for children and young people who have lost a loved one.

Hospice spokeswoman Laura McDade said: “We would like to say a big thank-you to every member of the Cubs and Beavers for their support.

“Every penny raised from Step Up goes directly towards helping us care and support for families and individuals all across the community.”
