CARING staff at a car dealership locked horns in a fundraising football match on Saturday to raise a bumper sum for charity.

Employees from the Linwood Ford branch of Arnold Clark took to the pitch at Johnstone Burgh’s Keanie Park home as they did their bit to support the Cash for Kids appeal.

Cash for Kids helps children who are disabled, disadvantaged or suffering from abuse in communities across the UK.

In the Old Firm-themed clash at Keanie Park, it was staff playing in the Celtic team who claimed the bragging rights, courtesy of a 5-2 victory over their Rangers rivals.

As well as the match, there was fun for all the family on offer, including face painting, a raffle and a beat-the-goalie contest.

And, although the fundraising total has yet to be finalised, organisers are confident more than £700 has been coined in.

This will be matched by Arnold Clark to double the total going to support the Cash for Kids appeal.

Linwood Ford showroom hostess Michelle Conaghan praised the staff who had turned out on the day to back the worthy cause.

She said: “The day went really well and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

“We are still selling raffle tickets, so we don’t have a final figure, but we are confident we will have raised in excess of £700.

“It is a really worthy charity which we have been supporting for a number of years and we will continue to do so.

“They do some excellent work and we want to help them in any way we can.”
