THERE was fun for all the family to enjoy as the annual Houston Agricultural Show proved to be a roaring success.

People from across Renfrewshire flocked to the Houston Playing Fields on Saturday, where they were treated to a wide variety of stalls and entertainment.

Judges were there to honour the best cattle and horses on show, while the humans got the chance to strut their stuff by taking part in the Houston’s Got Talent competition.

There were also dog shows to enjoy and home-baked goodies to tuck into.

Thanks to the Royal Highland Educational Trust, visitors even got the chance to learn how to milk a cow.

Mo Lyle, secretary of the Houston Agricultural Show, said: “It was definitely a very successful day, with gate takings up and the weather working in our favour.

“I spoke to a lot of people during the day and they all said there was good community spirit.

“Children were able to experience different parts of farming life and the kind of work that goes on.

“It was a real delight to see how it all came together, with the committee’s hard work being rewarded to produce a good show.

“Thank you to everyone who helped on the day in any way.”
